Making and Applying Prosthetics – The Essentials

5 September, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 9 September, 2016 @ 5:00 pm

| £599
SFX PROSTHETICS

Prosthetics can be an involved process, and be used to create complex character make-ups and effects gore effects from slit throats to disease. We’ll look at the anatomy of good moulds and how they work and how to use them.  This includes how to apply release, cap plastic barriers and mixing skin tones in silicone

You will learn the technique of applying and colouring your pieces to match the wearers skin. This absolutely crucial skill is the key to understanding how to blend prosthetics into skin well.
You will be taken through the process step by step with live demonstrations and then try you hand at making your own pieces from moulds we’ll supply.

You will also learn the tricks and techniques of making your own moulds from scratch, including working on a face cast so your appliances will fit right every time. We will take a look at some pro casting tricks and alternative materials such as gelatine and Pro-Bondo as well as latex so you can work in a variety of materials to suit your job and budget.

The key element of this course is to teach you how to make prosthetics to create stunning effects using basic materials and techniques, as well as problems that arise during applying prosthetics and how you can fix them.
