MA International Film Production

This new and revolutionary MA provides participants with a critical understanding of the role that production practices play in the international marketplace for film, and equips students with the skills and experience to work in the film and High-end TV (HETV) sectors either in the UK or further afield. On completion of the course, students will have gained key skills as creative filmmakers, as well as being able to analyse the broad scope of opportunities available within the Film Industry.

Participants will be taught by professionals from a variety of disciplines within film production at Pinewood Studios. Students are introduced to roles such as: Script Doctor, Producer, Director, DOP, Sound Mixer, 1st AD, Locations Manager, Production Designer, Script Supervisor, Production Accountant & Financial Controller, Casting Director, among other areas such as International Film Festivals and Distributors, with views of producing 2 high-standard short film at the end of the degree.

Location: Semester 1 and DMU Leicester Media School and Semester 2 at Creative Media Skills, Pinewood Studios 

Structure: 3 semesters of 12 weeks 2 full 8 hour days per week study at Pinewood Studios 

Travel and accommodation: Student accommodation locally is available. For those travelling from central London there are various means of travel available including shuttles.

Interview Required: Yes

We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications

Entry criteria

You should have the equivalent of a British Honours degree (2:1 minimum) in a relevant subject.

We are happy to consider equivalent qualifications from anywhere in the world.

If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent when you start the course is essential. English Language tuition, delivered by our British Council accredited Centre for English Language Learning, is available both before and throughout the course if you need it. 

If you have no formal academic qualifications but do have extensive industry experience we will consider your application on an individual basis.
