Course Leader Liz Griffiths is known as one of the UK’s leading British Independent Film Set Decorators. She trained as a Theatre Stage Manager at the drama school (LAMDA) and began her career in touring dance & theatre companies, The Oxford Stage Company, & Cambridge Theatre Company culminating at The Royal Shakespeare Company. This proved an invaluable springboard into the world of Film & TV Set Decorating which she has been thriving in for over 25 years…
From Oscar-Nominated Art Departments on Topsy Turvy, through Bafta-winning teams on BBC TV’s Gracie, and Sci-Fi classic Dr Who, Liz has worked on an exceptional range of British, pioneering projects. Recent favourites include Second World War classics Dads Army and Lone Scherigs’ touching and hilarious film Their Finest – which brought to life the world of Technicolour Film Making… Ministry of information Style! Award Winning Barbara Brocolli’s Passion Project Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool – was a recent period piece which received critical acclaim and looked terrific under the collaborative eye of Bafta-winning Production Designer Eve Stewart.
Family Favourites Pride, About Time, Hot Fuzz, Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging are just a few of her successes, not forgetting the future Working Title classic Johnny English Strikes Back which is due to hit the big screen in the Autumn.
