Leigh Took

Course leader Leigh Took began his career as an apprentice at Pinewood Studios on Warlords of Atlantis (1978), learning the classic techniques of matte painting under the supervision of Cliff Culley, one of the few matte painters at the time. Leigh’s involvement in miniatures began working with Ray Harryhausen on Clash of the Titans (1981), constructing miniature sets and combining these with matte paintings.

After working for several years with the late special effects master Derek Meddings on films such as Batman (1989) and Neverending Story 2 (1990), Leigh set up Mattes & Miniatures Visual Effects Ltd. at Bray Studios in 1991, heading up the company as a VFX and Models Supervisor on countless commercials, music promos, TV series and feature films, such as: Lost in Space, The Descent, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of theDawn Treader and Dark Shadows

His most recent props credits include Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (2016), Eddie the Eagle (2016) and Kill Command (2016).
